In 2023 the theme for Children's Mental Health Week was 'Let's Connect.'
Place2Be, the children's Mental Health Charity, states, “Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing.”
At Tilbury we want to encourage our children to connect with others in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways. There is also a huge link to kindness, and how showing kindness can 'connect' us to others in a very positive way.
We have decided to celebrate this important week by ‘connecting our nursery community’ through creating a Giant ‘Paper People’ Chain.
We had a ‘Paper Person’ for each child which they were able to personalise their own ‘Paper Person’ that will then joined together to create our ‘Tilbury People Chain’. Each child decorated their own ‘Paper Person’ using different materials, arts and crafts available in the nursery and of course using their own imaginations.
We wanted our whole nursery community to all be involved so we invited our parents and carers to come into Nursery on Thursday 9th of February 2023 to support their children create their unique person.
We are so pleased with the outcome and to see so many parents coming together and ‘connecting’ with our nursery community.
What a great way to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week, and such a nice way to discuss about this very important topic.
