Understanding the World
Understanding the World involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community.
The range of children's personal experiences increase their knowledge and sense of world around them e.g making sense of their own life story and family's history, exploring how things work, plant seeds and care for growing plants, life cycles, celebrating diversity, their own uniqueness and differences between people.
It is vital that they use their senses in hands on exploration of natural materials and have the opportunities to meet important members of society - police officers, firefighters and nurses.
